Our Daily Schedule
The vocation of the Discalced Carmelite Nun is a gift of the Spirit. Through it, we are called to a hidden union with God in friendship with Christ, in familiarity with the Blessed Virgin Mary, and in an existence in which prayer and immolation blend into a great love for the Church.
Our constitutions #10
- 5:30 Rise (If taking a shower, 5:15).
- 6:00 Angelus in the chior followed by 1 hour of mental prayer.
- 7:00 Lauds (morning prayer).
- 7:30 Mass (time may vary). Please call ahead for current Mass time. After Mass: thanksgiving followed by Terce (midmorning prayer).
- 9:30 – 11:15 Manual Labor.
- 11:30 Sext (midday prayer), examen, dinner. After dinner cleanup and recreation.
- 1:30 None (midafternoon prayer), Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
- 2:15 – 3:30 Manual Labor.
- 3:40 Rosary.
- 4:00 Vespers (evening prayer) followed by 1 hour of mental prayer until 5:15.
- 5:15 Spiritual reading.
- 6:00 Supper followed by cleanup and recreation.
- 7:40 Office of Reading (Matins) and Compline (night prayer). Followed by the final anthem to Our Lady and aspersion and blessing by the Prioress.
Strict silence after Compline.
You must be in your cell by 9:30 pm.
